Plasco Commences Screening Process for Permanent Operation

OTTAWA – December 22, 2010 – Plasco Energy Group Inc. (“Plasco”) today announced that its Plasco Trail Road facility (PTR) has recently completed operational and environmental testing.

Plasco will now commence the process to re-permit PTR, which is currently regulated by Certificates of Approval (“COA”) under Ontario Regulations 234/06 and 254/06, to a permanent COA under the Ontario Ministry of the Environment’s Waste Management Projects Regulation 101/07. PTR is intended to be Plasco’s permanent demonstration and development centre for its commercial scale municipal solid waste (“MSW”) conversion technology in Ottawa. Thirty-five people are currently employed at PTR.

Construction began on the PTR facility in September 2006, and the commissioning program began on July of 2007. Since that time, more than $50 million has been invested by Plasco in the facility and more than $250 million of equity investment has been committed to Plasco. In addition, the PTR investment was supported by $9.6 million from Sustainable Development Technology Canada (“SDTC”) and a loan of $4 million from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. The performance of PTR has been a key factor that has positioned Plasco to successfully compete for development of MSW conversion facilities in Europe, North America and China.
