Rod Bryden

Roderick M. (Rod) Bryden

Along with his duties as President and CEO of Plasco Energy Group Inc., Mr. Rod Bryden is Chairman of SC Stormont Inc., which participates in the development of small to mid-sized Canadian businesses. He is currently Chairman of the Board of PharmaGap Inc. and holds a position on the Board of Directors of Clearford Industries Inc.
April 1996, Mr. Bryden joined with Dr. Tofy Mussivand, Director of the Cardiovascular Division of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, and Dr. Michael Cowpland to form World Heart Corporation. Mr. Bryden was Chairman, or President and CEO of World Heart Corporation until July 2004.
January 1992, Mr. Bryden became CEO of Terrace Corporation, the principal owner of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, and Vice Chairman and Alternate Governor of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club. On September 1, 1993, Mr. Bryden became Chairman and Governor of the Club. In July 1994 construction of the Palladium (Corel Centre), was begun and opened in January 1996. Both the Hockey Club and the Corel Centre were sold in 2003.
August 1991, Mr. Bryden and two associates, founded SC Stormont Corporation, an Ottawa-based company specializing in the management of complex corporate transactions. Mr. Bryden was the Chairman of SC Stormont Corporation until it ceased operation in 2004, and was succeeded in September 2004 by SC Stormont Inc., of which Mr. Bryden is owner and Chairman.
In 1979, Mr. Bryden founded Paperboard Industries Corporation (PIC) by acquiring Trent Valley Paperboard Mills, which had 166 employees and annual revenues of $12 million. Mr. Bryden was Chairman of PIC until 1991, when PIC had become Canada’s largest manufacturer of paper from recycled fibre, and the largest manufacturer of paperbox packaging. PIC revenues were $700 million, with 4,000 employees in 1990.
In 1974, Mr. Bryden founded Systemhouse Ltd., with seven senior information systems professionals. He was President or Chairman of Systemhouse until June of 1991, as Systemhouse became Canada’s leading computer integration company with over 3,000 employees and revenues of more than $800 million.
From 1967 to 1969, Mr. Bryden was Professor of Law at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. In 1969 Mr. Bryden moved to Ottawa and held various positions with the Government of Canada, including Assistant Deputy Minister of Regional Economic Expansion, prior to moving to independent business at the end of 1973.
Mr. Bryden obtained a B.A. Hon. Ec., from Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick; an LLB, University of New Brunswick, Fredericton; and an LLM, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.

Mo Vargas joined Plasco Energy Group as Executive Vice President in November 2011. Previously, he served as President of AES North America Business Development, LLC where he focused on developing and acquiring energy projects in the US, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, and as CEO of Greenhouse Gas Services, a joint venture between GE Energy Financial Services and The AES Corporation where during his tenure he acquired Stormfisher Biogas.
Mo, a veteran of GE, Siemens and AES, also served as Vice President of Corporate Governance for AES’s $7 Billion in
revenue Brazilian businesses, where he was responsible for Internal Audit, Compliance and Brazilian Governance. While at
AES, Mo also served as the company’s Corporate Managing Director of operational excellence audits with global
responsibility in 32 countries and over $30 Billion in assets.
Before joining AES, Mo held executive positions at GE and Siemens, including several positions managing P&L, sales
and marketing groups of over $300 Million in revenues.
Mo holds a Mechanical Engineering degree in Combustion Technology from the University of California-Irvine and an MBA from the University of Southern California.

Eric Norgren, Vice President of Project Finance is responsible for raising limited recourse project financing and
project specific equity capital for Plasco Energy Group. He joined Plasco in May 2007, bringing over 20 years
of structured finance, bonding, surety and financial risk management experience from the financial industry. Prior
to joining Plasco, he held the positions of Principal, Energy & Infrastructure and Director, Oil & Gas at Export
Development Canada (EDC). Prior to EDC, Eric held senior transactional management positions with Barclays Bank,
Lloyds Bank, and Continental Bank. His experience in financing and bonding of transactions spans the globe,
including both developed and emerging markets.

Tim Saunders has almost 30 years of international financial management experience in publicly traded companies as well as private equity growth funded companies. Prior to joining Plasco, Tim was a senior finance executive with Vodafone based in Prague, Czech Republic. He led the finance function there, and later was a global finance lead for a major international business transformation initiative. Prior to Vodafone, Tim was the VP Corporate Controller at Zarlink Semiconductor (now Microsemi). He was in the same role with Mitel Corporation as a key finance executive during Mitel’s dramatic sales growth organically and through acquisitions, up to when the systems business was sold and the remainder rebranded as Zarlink. Tim’s career commenced with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers). Tim holds a B.B.A. degree from Bishop’s University and a Certificate from the University of
Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business Executive Program and is a Chartered Accountant (Canada).

Mr. Christopher Gay has been with the Company since 1991 first as a consultant from his own management firm, then on the board in 1995 and full time since 1996. Mr. Gay’s technical background is in the telecommunications and space industry. He has held executive positions in Marketing, Business Development and Sales in large multinationals and successfully ran his own business. He is very familiar with international business with emphasis on South East Asia.

Mr. Chris Terajewicz joins the Plasco team with successful experience in engineering, project management, power plant construction management and operations, and is a senior construction industry executive with extensive international experience.
Mr. Terajewicz brings
a wealth of experience, most recently from his time at Verenium Corporation, where he held the position of Senior Vice President Engineering & Construction. At Verenium Corporation, he developed and implemented a successful recovery plan for the completion of engineering, construction, and start up of the 1.2 million gallon per year ethanol facility in Louisiana.
Prior to Verenium Corporation, Mr. Terajewicz worked at the SHAW group, where he was the Project Director for Flue Gas Desulfurization Projects. Before that, he worked at Intergen as Senior Vice President, Construction and Operations. At Intergen, he was one of the original Executives, charged with forming and organizing an
international power generation firm, which built and operated power plants in many international locations. Mr. Terajewicz holds a Bachelor’s of Engineering in Marine Engineering and also has a certificate from the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.

Mr. Alisdair McLean has held engineering and leadership positions in the chemical, medical products, fibre-optics and waste conversion industries. Mr. McLean has nineteen years of experience building technology teams, leading development projects, transferring R&D projects to Operations, and starting-up overseas manufacturing operations.

Mr. Edmond Chiasson brings extensive public affairs and political experience to the Plasco Energy Group Inc. team. He has worked in Ottawa as a political advisor in Canada’s Federal Government and was actively engaged in Liberal Party politics including leadership campaigns during the 1980’s. After joining the public affairs world in 1991 in Ottawa, he subsequently cofounded his own firm, Global Public Affairs in 1995. This Company became a market leader in Ottawa and then expanded to other Canadian Provinces. Mr. Chiasson sold his interest in 2005. He is a graduate of Dalhousie Law School in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he practiced corporate commercial law and public policy law over a 10 year period.

Mr. Pierre Nicol is Plasco’s Vice President Legal and Corporate Secretary. He joined Plasco in 2008. Mr. Nicol leads Plasco’s legal team and is responsible for all local and international legal matters pertaining to the company and its subsidiaries. Among other things, he plays an instrumental role in structuring projects and strategic partnerships in America, Europe and Asia.
Mr. Nicol began his career in 1996. Prior to joining Plasco he practiced business law at McCarthy Tetrault and at CGI Group Inc. where he developed a broad corporate and business law experience, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, venture capital financing, corporate reorganizations, private equity financing, large IT outsourcing transactions and risk management.

Mr. Marc Bacon came to Plasco Energy Group as Vice President, Engineering, from the Patella Group, where he held the position of Executive Vice President. Mr. Bacon also has seven years of experience with Fabgroups Technologies, where he was Corporate Director, R&D, Engineering and Business Development and spearheaded the successful development of the plasma assisted oxidation process for municipal sludge. Prior to that, he held positions in engineering and operations management with Ingersoll-Rand, and was President of his own privately held engineering firm.
Mr. Bacon graduated with a BSc. in Electrical Engineering (Summa cum Laude) and a BSc., Welding Engineering (Magna cum Laude) from Le Tourneau University in Longview, Texas. Subsequently, he received his MBA (Summa cum Laude) from the same University in the fall of 2006. Mr. Bacon is a member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Québec and Professional Engineers Ontario.

Mr. Andreas Tsangaris is a Master of Mechanical Engineering and a Professional Engineer. He is the co-inventor of Plasco Energy Group Inc.’s technology along with Mr. George Carter., and has led plasma research at Plasco Energy Group’s facility since 1981.
Mr. Tsangaris is also responsible for the day to day engineering operations at the plant. He is well respected in the international plasma community and has appeared at many seminars where he has presented papers. Mr. Tsangaris is now recognized as a leading authority in plasma processing.
