Roderick Bryden, Chairman and Chief Executive Office

Mr. Roderick M. (Rod) Bryden is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Plasco Conversion Technologies Inc. Plasco applies plasma technology to refine synthetic gas to produce natural gas equivalent fuel from various feed stocks, including Municipal Solid Waste.

Mr. Bryden is a Director and Chairman of Clearford Water Systems Inc. a TSXV listed company.

Mr. Bryden began his career as Professor of Law at the University of Saskatchewan. Moving to Ottawa, he held positions with the Government of Canada before he co-founded and became President of SHL Systemhouse Ltd in 1974. Systemhouse grew to more than 5000 employees with revenues more than $800 million before being sold to Washington based MCI in 1993.

He founded Paperboard Industries Corporation (PIC) in 1976.By 1990 PIC was Canada’s largest manufacturer of paper and paper box packaging from recycled fiber with revenues of more than $700 million and 4000 employees. In 1992, he became the principal owner of the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, and The Palladium Corporation which, in 1996, opened the Corel Center, home of the Ottawa Senators. He sold the team and building in 2004.

Mr. Bryden co-founded Plasco in 2005 and led the company as CEO until January 2014.

In 2015 Mr. Bryden established RMB Advisory Services, Inc. which in September 2015 acquired 100% ownership of Plasco Energy Group Inc. The name was changed to Plasco Conversion Technologies Inc. in 2016 to reflect the IP base and business model of the company.

 

Robert C. McInnis, Chief Financial Officer

Robert (Bob) McInnis has served as Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Plasco Energy Group Inc. since the company’s change of ownership in September 2015. Mr. McInnis also serves as Vice President, Finance for the majority shareholder of Plasco (RMB Advisory Services Inc.), and also for two affiliates of that shareholder (SC Stormont Inc. and SC Stormont Holdings Inc.) Mr. McInnis has held these positions since 1991.

Mr. McInnis holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo (1974), and was admitted to the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accounts in 1978.

During his tenure with Stormont, Mr. McInnis was part of a small team responsible for financing the Ottawa Senators Hockey Club and that team’s home arena, originally known as the Palladium and now the Canadian Tire Centre. From 2004 to 2013 he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Pharmagap Inc., a publicly traded (TSX:V) early stage pharmaceutical development company under the Stormont umbrella. In 2014 he assumed a contract directly with Clearford Water Systems Inc., of which SC Stormont Holdings Inc. holds a significant shareholding, assisting the Chairman and President in the continued development of Clearford.

  

Marc Bacon, P.Eng., EVP of Engineering and Operations

Marc came to Plasco in 2007 from the Patella Group, where he was EVP and General Manager. Prior to that he held senior positions engineering and operations, and was the owner and principal of his own consulting firm.

At Plasco, Marc led the team that advanced the Plasco technology to commercial readiness. The team developed over 20 patent families, engineered and supported the operations of the only full-scale demonstration plant in the world in its space, and developed a commercial design. The Plasco Conversion Process was selected by the New Economy Magazine in late 2014 as the “World’s Best Waste Management Technology”.

Marc is a U.S./Canadian citizen with native proficiency in English and French. He has two engineering degrees and a MBA, with honors, combined with doctoral level studies in organizational leadership and business administration, and is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario.

Marc’s specialties include: organizational leadership, engineering and operations management, new product development, demonstration, and commercialization, start-ups, and turnarounds. His technical expertise includes gasification, materials, steel fabrication, heavy machining, and thermal plasma. He is respected for principled steward leadership, and is a catalyst for constructive organizational change and business growth. He has spearheaded the development of two advanced processes in renewable energy and holds several patents.

 

Randy Bennett, Senior Advisor, Business Development

Randy is a business executive with 25 years of Business Development in international markets. He joined Plasco’s predecessor, RCL Plasma, in 1996 after working ten years in the high technology business where he had Business Development responsibilities for contract pricing and negotiations. With a background in business administration Randy also brought strategic planning and budgeting expertise to support the Plasco early days.

Mr. Bennett holds a Three Year Business Diploma from Algonquin College (1982).

As an executive at Plasco, Randy was widely involved in; equity raises, project development, client relationships, and contract negotiations in local and foreign markets, including providing strategic direction for advancing the Chinese market.

Randy now assists Plasco’s CEO in leading worldwide project development.

 

Mark Redway, B.Eng. MBA, Managing Director UK

Mark joined Plasco as Managing Director UK in 2016 although his involvement with the company spans a decade through his previous role as a Fund Manager where he was a seed investor in the technology starting in 2006.

Between 2005 and 2016 Mark ran the Energy Fund at RAB Capital in London. The fund was a leading investor in energy projects worldwide and specialized in junior high growth potential companies. The fund won numerous hedge fund awards including Best Energy Fund and Global Equity Fund. Between inception and its closure the fund outperformed its benchmark index by 860%.

Prior to fund management Mark worked for 10 years as an analyst for a number of stockbrokers in London producing research on the upstream oil and gas industry culminating in winning Star Mine’s top analyst award in 2005. Between 1989 and 1995 Mark was employed by Schlumberger as an oilfield engineer based in West Africa and the UK where he helped develop advanced techniques in coiled tubing logging as well as pioneering a turn-key coiled tubing and stimulation package in the swamp and shallow waters of Nigeria. Mark holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and an MBA.

With the UK seen as a principal target for Plasco’s technology Mark’s main role will be in developing the business by promoting awareness within national and local government as well as in the private sector. He will also continue to build relationships with existing and potential investors.

 

Andreas V. Tsangaris, P.Eng. , Chief Scientist

Andreas is currently the Chief Scientist of Plasco Conversion Technologies (Plasco). He was the leader of Plasco’s original plasma-assisted gasification program (from idea through testing and development). When the company grew, Andreas helped optimize the existing technology in addition to leading Plasco’s Research and Development and Intellectual Property efforts.

Andreas received BEng degree and MEng degrees from Carleton University in 1980 and 1982 respectively. He specialized in Energy Conversion and Power Generation. He worked for Plasco or its predecessor companies since 1981. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Ontario. Andreas is a widely recognized advanced gasification expert. He is passionate about using technology to address the waste and energy conundrums simultaneously with due regard to both environmental acceptability and economic viability.

Plasco now owns one of the most innovative renewable energy and waste conversion processes in the world. Andreas was interviewed by, and was featured in, several magazines as well as “The Discovery Channel” and presented papers at multiple conferences.

Andreas was responsible for new innovations to further improve Plasco’s existing Gasification and Plasma Refinement design and broke new ground in developing Plasco’s Next Generation system by taking new concepts from the “idea” stage, through the proof-of-concept stage testing and all the way to full development and IP protection. He authored or co-authored all of Plasco’s patents.

 

Tom Wagler, P.Eng., Manager of Process Engineering

Tom Wagler is the Manager of Process Engineering at Plasco, and has been with the company since 2006. Tom is an experienced technical team manager and registered professional engineer with over two decades of experience in the fields of waste-to-energy gasification, manufacturing & asset availability, chemical industry process design, and nylon polymerization, including significant experience with DuPont Canada and Invista Canada.

He holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo (1992) and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario since 2000.

Tom was the senior process design engineer for the development of Plasco’s proprietary waste-to-energy plasma gasification technology. He was the lead as well for commissioning, testing, and operation of a 5 tpd pilot scale gasification facility in Castellgali, Spain; then responsible for design and safety reviews of the 85 tpd Plasco Trail Road (PTR) demonstration facility as well as the test leader for PTR start-up and commissioning. Tom is now the senior Process Engineer for continued design of the Plasco Commercial Facility. His specialized experience includes process simulation, computational fluid dynamic (CFD) modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), reactor design, refractory selection and materials of construction for high temperature operation. He has detailed knowledge of process safety management (HAZOP), risk assessment & consequence analysis techniques and has Basic Six Sigma® Methodology training.
