changing the way communities deal with waste

We turn garbage into electricity — how is our process unique?

The Project

Plasco's proposal is to finance, build and operate a waste conversion facility that will convert approximately 100,000 tons per year of the Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority's waste into green power and other useful products.

Johnson Canyon Resource Management Park

The Salinas Valley Solid Waste Authority plans to transition the existing Johnson Canyon Landfill, east of the city of Gonzales, into a Resource Management Park. This park would be a suitable location for recycling, composting, and conversion programs that will help meet the Authority’s diversion and sustainability goals. Plans for the JCRMP include using municipal solid waste as a resource for thermal or anaerobic conversion processes to produce energy such as electricity or biofuels.

A park of this nature would accept delivery of solid waste and process the tonnage through a materials recovery facility to separate readily marketable items such as plastic, glass, cardboard and metals. Organic materials, food waste, and construction and demolition materials, would be isolated and processed separately.
